2008 so far....

Well, it's been a great year so far! We were fortunate to travel to see my brother Isaac and his wife Michelle in Marina Del Rey, California in February. Zachary had to miss school for a week, but he is only in Senior Kindergarten this year, so I don't think he missed too much.

We lucked out and got some fabulous weather for that time of year. We certainly didn't expect temperatures in the mid-twenties so the second day of our vacation found us at Target buying the kids some shorts. We hit the usual attractions, Disneyland, The Zoo, and paid numerous visits to the beach as my brother's Condo is only a two-minute walk from Venice Beach. We were introduced to an incredible little ice-cream place called Cold Stone Creamery. It is pure evil and it tasted sooooo good.

A highlight for Jordan was a visit to High Voltage Tattoo in Los Angeles, the shop that is featured in the TV Show LA Ink. Jordan was even able to get a tattoo as a walk-in. Adrian Gallegos, the artist who inked him is not a featured artist on the show, but we have seen his face on the show a few times. He is incredibly talented and Jordan's tattoo is amazing. I will post pics of it at some point, I promise. For now, you can go check out his work at http://www.highvoltagetattoo.com/adrian.htm.

It was definitely a thrill to see the shop in real life, and to say Jordan was excited about the experience would be a complete understatement.

We also visited Legoland, but it was a very cold and rainy day, so that only lasted about an hour, making it an expensive excursion. Still, it was very impressive. On our last full day there, Michelle took me to the scrapbooking store she goes to, and the selection there was impressive. I found some great stuff for scrapbooking our vacation.

I can't wait to go again! Neither can Corbett it seems as almost every day he asks "I go California?"

In March, Jordan started actively looking for a new motorcycle. He got his license two years ago and at the same time purchased a Suzuki GS500. A nice bike, but a bit too small for him, so it was time to move on. He found himself a Suzuki Bandt 1200 and brought it home in April. He is in love. I do have to admit that it is a nice bike and I am happy for him. Some of my friends have told me that the would never let their husbands drive a motorcycle, but I don't understand that thinking. I trust Jordan to remember that he has a wife and two kids to come home to and to treat the motorcycle with respect. The rest is out of his hands. Besides if Jordan ever told me I wasn't allowed to do something......

In May we got some estimates on redoing our bathroom and the work for that was supposed to start June 2nd, but as with all renovations there are delays. They are still hard at work on another client's bathroom ,so we are slated to start June 16th. I honestly had no idea how expensive bathroom renovations could be! We don't have any choice though as there are concerns about mold and rotting walls.

A few weeks ago, Zachary fell at the bottom of a slide in our backyard and fractured his wrist. It was, thankfully, a minor fracture so he was only in the cast for 2 weeks and 3 days. It happened on a Friday evening and Zack was a little worried that everyone would laugh at him when he returned to school on Monday. The doctor and I predicted he would be the most popular kid in class that day and boy were we right. The second his classmates saw him he was swarmed! I brought a package of 8 Sharpie markers in different colours to the school and gave them to his teacher--when I picked him up that afternoon his cast was full of little signatures.

This Monday I start teaching a Learn to Run Clinic at the Running Room here in Sudbury. I am excited to do it but a little nervous about teaching a class. I am sure it will be fine, but wish me luck anyway.

So things are completely normal around here, which is the way I like it!

Welcome.

For those of our family who are so inclined, I have started this blog to keep you posted on our little family.

Jordan and I are extremely fortunate to have two healthy, happy sons. Zachary is 5 and Corbett is 2. Life raising two boys is equal parts joy and challenge, but we wouldn't change that for the world. We recently added Mischa, who without a doubt is the craziest beagle on the planet.

Their personalities are night and day, but most of the time they are best buddies. I truly hope it stays that way.

I will try to update as often as I can, and provide pictures of the boys who are growing like weeds!
